Bogota Fashion Week opens the call for designers in its 2018 edition

From April 24 to 27 2018, the second edition of Bogotá Fashion Week will be held under the leadership of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce, which for the past 13 years has been betting on cultural and creative industries to be the engine of economic development for the City.

 

How to participate in the Bogota Fashion Week 2018?

The call to participate in this platform will be open between November 7- 21. Designers and entrepreneurs from the garment sectors can participate; leather, footwear and leather goods; and jewelry and bijouterie. You must also be registered as a natural or legal person in Bogotá or in the municipalities of the CCB jurisdiction, have renewed their Commercial Registry in 2017 and have a minimum legal existence of three years.

Applicants must register online through the free website www.bogotafashionweek.com.co , and provide the required documentation related to each company, its brand and the development of its collections. It is recommended that registration be made with due anticipation. If the form is incomplete or does not have all the information requested, the registration will not be taken into account.

Each registration will be analyzed by the Chamber and a specialized international curatorship team from each sector, who will select the preselected candidates who will then be summoned to the interview phase.

The results of the call will be published on November 26 on the website.

 

Between November 27, 2017 and April 20, 2018, the selected designers will receive guidance from the curators through three face-to-face group workshops in which they will give advice on topics such as brand and product, collections, staging and sales tools. Additionally, they will receive an individual virtual curator on brand development, review of collection structure and marketing. The individual face-to-face curatorship, on the other hand, will revolve around product analysis, construction of differentiating product, visual image, and scenography, among others.

In parallel, the Bogota Chamber of Commerce will provide advice and support to the selected designers to strengthen their companies.

Bogota Fashion Week - BFW, circulation and contact platform for businesses of Bogota Chamber of Commerce closed its 2017 edition with a positive balance: it counted with the participation of 35 designers who had about 420 business appointments with 50 national and international buyers which facilitated its commercial relationship through the Market Experience and rewarded local talent.

Thanks to the first edition of Bogotá Fashion Week, the city advanced in its positioning as a fashion business capital of international stature that connects supply and demand in the sector. In addition, it generated spaces not only to do business but to exchange knowledge that helps strengthen the City - Region industry.

Now, the Chamber is preparing the 2018 edition of the platform, which is committed to identity as a way to consolidate itself as a benchmark for fashion businesses worldwide. This will be the stage to present the best design proposals with global seal: products that tell local stories to position themselves in the world. BFW 2018, which will be held from April 24 to April 27, 2018, will promote this ability to create the new, based on what is proper.

 

Bet of the CCB for the cultural and creative industries

The Bogota Chamber of Commerce permanently supports entrepreneurs in the cultural and creative industries from three fronts: advice for the strengthening of business, improvement of the competitive environment through cluster initiatives, and circulation and promotion platforms of contact for businesses such as ARTBO I International Art Fair of Bogotá , Bogotá Audiovisual Market - BAM , Bogotá Music Market - BOmm , and Bogotá Fashion Week - BFW.

Bogotá Fashion Week is part of the agenda of the Clothing Cluster Initiatives; Footwear, Leatherwear and Leather Goods, and Jewelry and Bijouterie, led by the Chamber, which seeks to close the bottlenecks that limit the competitiveness of in these sectors so they can have a solid and sustainable growth.

This work carried out by the Chamber is part of the Intelligent Specialization Strategy that has been working with multiple actors from the public, private and academic sectors within the framework of the Regional Competitiveness Commission of Bogotá-Cundinamarca, under which five areas were defined in the that efforts and resources have been focused for the next 10 years. One of these areas is called "Bogotá-Creative Region", which includes the three clusters belonging to the fashion sector.
