The seven Colombian fashion brands that will make it to Spain

Fiona Ferrer, known as the “Fashion Queen” in Madrid, is an adviser to numerous designers in Colombia, and was the businesswoman who embarked on this project with the support of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá.

Lina Hernández, Metalero, Álvaro Ávila, La P-pa Design (Stella Reyes), Fernada Arias, Tatiana Apráez and Edén Jewlery are just some of the local brands that will exhibit their products in El Corte Inglés in the Paseo de la Castellana in Madrid, on of the most luxurious and important platforms in that country.

According to Ferrer, this initiative will be used to encourage designers to find new markets. She considers that the most important challenge now is to continue positioning the Colombian market internationally, especially with new entrepreneurs. “The quality and designs have a very prominent and personal style. This was my third time attending the Bogota Fashion Week, and I know it’s a big important Latin American reference”.

Thanks to the promotion made in this market, about 150.000 euros have been made with our local designers in this industry abroad. “Colombia needs to position strategically their new brands” said Ferrer in a dialogue with Portfolio.

Additionally, the businesswoman made official the launch of her own brand, FFL. According to Ferrer, this project counts with the collaboration of Colombian designers Camila Mesar and Camila Parra.

“Collaborating with the design and production with these two young designers, Camila Parra and Camila Mesar, has been a fantastic challenge with a big responsibility, since FFL assumes all the production costs and economic investments to create all the collections. It’s a serious initiative where I have invested my capital, and most importantly, my time. I demand perfection with those who work with me, as I know the quality and professionalism of Colombians”.

The fashion designer mentioned she will return to the country in a month time, to continue the investigation of her new collection.
