SOMOS MHUYSCAS

In 2018, Estiven and Camilo Castro, from the Muisca Indigenous Reservation of Cota in Cundinamarca, founded Somos Mhuyscas while studying at university. This artisanal project seeks to revitalize the art of weaving and preserve the ancestral knowledge of their community. They consider weaving to be more than just a manual skill, seeing it as a means of cultural expression that connects the past with the present. With the support of members of the Reservation, Somos Mhuyscas creates products such as backpacks, blankets, and hats, made from natural fibers and hand-woven. These products not only have practical value but also commemorate their ancestors and represent a commitment to their cultural legacy and nature.
